2/3/10 Meeting

Meeting began at 713 pm.

  • Announcements: Introduced Nicole, working for the Grassroots Campaign, Inc., which is looking for graduating seniors to join them in their work. They also take interns during the summer.
  • Current events: Obama announced that he’s working with the brass and Congress on repealing the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy. The group that laid the legal foundation for the death penalty recently announced that their project was a failure and basically doesn’t work.
  • Death penalty: Club to work on connecting (education) budget cuts to the excessive money going to capital sentencing. To work with other groups on campus to make the connection explicitly.
  • dotRights: Continue creating ideas to spread dotRights awareness (and also to get ACLU grant).
  • Division directors: Introduction to what they do for the new members. Division directors will meet with the board to get ideas going.
  • New secretary: Isabel will not be here this semester, so we will need a new secretary. The secretary needs to be at every meeting if possible, and needs …to be able to write?
  • Next week’s meeting time: Wednesday 8. Room TBA.

Yours sincerely,
Poon :)

Welcome to the new Berkeley ACLU website

Hi all!

Welcome to our new site! In the upper right hand site, you will find your main navigation, the names of which are fairly self-explanatory. Those pages are currently empty, but will be filled as soon as the information can be gathered at the start of the upcoming semester.

All current ongoings in the club will be posted here on the home page. This will hopefully include weekly meeting minutes.

Any user can register and post comments, etc on posts.

I hate when people say “Check back soon! [We'll have stuff later!],” because then they never do, so I won’t say that.

Michael, signing out.
